08/05/08 It's player of the year time!
Each year, at the Napton Football Club presentation night, awards are given out to the manager's player of the year, the players' player of the year, and the most improved player of the year. The players' player of the year is decided by everyone in the team choosing who they think has tried and performed the best throughout the season. At the tournament on Sunday, managers of the four different teams will be asking the players for their first and second choice for who they think should win it, so we advise everyone to get thinking! The date for the presentation night is yet to be confirmed.

There will be no more training this season for the under 15's and under 16's after Sunday's tournament, though Andy is trying to fix up another friendly game, which would take place at the end of the month.

THREE COUNTIES TOURNAMENT DETAILS

07/05/08 'Oldies' snatch late draw in friendly
The oldies got a lucky 4-4 draw against the under 16's in a friendly on Tuesday night. The under 16's took the lead when Matt Austin headed in George Dewey's corner,  and they could of scored several more but for great saves by Sab Ulhaq, before at the other end Sam Gilbert equalised. Richard Lay put then put the oldies in front, despite an 'obvious push' on the 'keeper, but Joel Jessup headed in Tom Isom's long ball to make it 2-2. The under 16's were then denied two penalties when Nathan Jessup dump tackled Joel Jessup, and Andy Burgess tripped Rob Burgess. This report is not biased, unlike the referee, who was one of their players! Stephen Dewey fired in George Dewey's corner to make it 3-2. but Sam Gilbert made it 3-3. Though Paul Wallace scored an excellent goal from well outside the box to put the under 16's back in the lead. Though, in the 67th minute of a 60 minute game Tony Gilbert poked home a long ball over the top, to end the entertaining game as a draw.
